SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT

INTRODUCTION
As a progressive Company, Somaru and Associates Incorporated recognise the importance of achieving an incident and injury free organisation. We are committed to providing service excellence to our Clients by driving Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) compliance and efficiency in all aspects of our business.

PURPOSE
In our effort to encourage an environment of SHE culture, we at Somaru and Associates Incorporated, undertake to execute and maintain activities in the company in a manner that minimises risk, harm and damage to individuals and the environment. This will be achieved by establishing relevant and measurable targets and monitoring performances on these targets.

COMMITMENT
Through top management and individual commitment, we will continue to focus on the safety, occupational health and social welfare of our Employees and Clients. Management will ensure proper discharge of responsibilities through all levels of our organisation, facilitating improvement and developing and maintaining a proactive and clear SHE culture.

In order to successfully attain these goals, Somaru and Associates Incorporated commit to engaging with all personnel to:

 

  • Comply with SHE laws, regulations and requirements applicable to the entity.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel, free of occupational injury and illness.
  • Provide training on SHE and appropriate safety equipment to all personnel.
  • Consolidate the SHE management system into business planning and decision making in the Company. In doing so, we will resolve to enhance the skills and competence of individuals by engaging them in SHE practises.
  • Respect and protect the environment and conserve our natural resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Directors, Managers and employees within the organisation will support and further develop the Company’s commitment towards health and safety and ensure that they conduct themselves in a manner that ensures both them and other personnel are not at risk.

All staff will be compliant with SHE management processes in the Company and will work conjointly with management, ensuring that any accidents, hazards or general safety concerns are reported timeously to the SHE Manager.

SHE is regarded as a line management and individual responsibility. Employees will be held accountable for delivery of their SHE responsibilities at all levels within the business environment.

SHE POLICY REVIEW AND COMMUNICATION
Somaru and Associates Incorporated will ensure that the SHE management system remains effective in providing a safe and healthy work environment. We will review the SHE Policy and procedures annually.

QUALITY POLICY STATEMENT

INTRODUCTION

As a pre-eminent Built Environment specialist in South Africa, Somaru and Associates Incorporated is driven by the pursuit of knowledge and innovation and have adopted a Quality Management System within the organisation.  This is based on the following premise:

Quality Assurance is the activity of providing evidence needed to establish confidence among all concerned that the quality-related services are being performed effectively.

Quality Control involves developing systems to ensure services are designed and produced to meet or exceed Client requirements.

Quality Evaluation is the systematic determination of merit, worth and significance of a task performed or the individual executing the task.

Quality Management is a method of ensuring that all the activities necessary to design, develop and implement a service are effective and efficient with respect to the system and its performance.

Quality Management System (QMS) is a system that outlines the policies and procedures necessary to improve and control the various processes that will ultimately lead to improved business performance.

THE QMS IS MADE UP AS FOLLOWS:

PART 1: GENERAL SECTION

Includes the profile of Company, general policies and objectives, organisation structure and accountabilities, scope of the QMS, documentation system including the control of documents and quality records.

PART 2: MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

Encompasses the policy document for management responsibility and the quality system procedure for quality planning, internal communication and information and management review of the QMS.

PART 3: RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Comprises the policy document for resource management and the quality system procedure for management of human resources, management of infrastructure and management of the work environment.

PART 4: PRODUCT REALISATION

Embodies the policy document for service realisation and the quality system procedure for the control of customer-related processes, management of Professional services and the control of purchasing.

PART 5: MEASUREMENT, ANALYSIS AND IMPROVEMENT

Embraces the policy document for measurement, analysis and improvement and the quality system procedure for measuring and monitoring, internal quality audit, control of non-conformances and corrective action, quality improvement and preventative action.

Our Quality Management System establishes and supports our systematic approach to continual improvement, which is a natural extension of our commitment to excellence. Our quality management experts evaluate processes to improve efficiency, while also encouraging clients, staff, and other partners to offer suggestions on ways to improve business processes.
